Matthew 6:1 (NIV)

by John on March 23, 2006

Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

I wonder why people seek more prestige, power and money only for them to realize later that any of this will be meaningless at the end of their earthly life. One person told me about reaching the mountain top or the level of the sublime which is immortality. As i listen to him, she is talking about legacy for the next generation to come. Indeed that is good, on the other hand, as a believer in eternal life, i realized that kind of immortality is rather more earthly than eternal. Because at the end of life, earthly achievements maybe good for those who will be left behind but unworthy in the eyes of God.
